West Virginia Democratic Party Announces Hiring Search for New Senior Political & Outreach Advisor

New role is the latest step to reflect the WVDP’s commitment to engaging diverse groups and making the Party as inclusive as possible

The West Virginia Democratic Party (WVDP) today announced the start of a competitive process to hire a new Senior Political & Outreach Advisor for the WVDP, the latest in a series of steps the party has taken to become even more inclusive and representative of the state.

The new Senior Political & Outreach Advisor will be responsible for overseeing and strengthening relationships between diverse communities, grassroots voters and the state party. The Senior Advisor will lead efforts to expand the party by bringing new constituencies fully into the Democratic tent. The role will be a senior staff-level position that will report directly to the Chair.

The creation of the Senior Political & Outreach Advisor role is just the latest example of the WVDP’s commitment to grow the party by making it more inclusive and representative of all West Virginians. Earlier this month, the State Committee elected additional members to the State Committee that were nominated by the Affirmative Action Committee and adopted a draft affirmative action plan outlining steps the party can take to become more inclusive.

More information about the job, including a preliminary job description, can be found here. The position is made possible through funds from the Democratic National Committee.

“Electing Democrats across West Virginia and truly fighting for Democratic values involves building winning coalitions that look like the entirety of our great state,” said West Virginia Democratic Party Chair Belinda Biafore. “On the heels of our new draft affirmative action plan, the creation of this new position is just the latest proof of our commitment to building a more inclusive party where every single West Virginians voice is heard. We’d like to thank the Democratic National Committee for providing us with the resources that have allowed us to prioritize this position.”

“The Democratic National Committee is committed to helping state parties like West Virginia become the strongest possible versions of themselves so that they can represent their states and elect Democrats up and down the ticket. We’re proud to help fund this new Senior Advisor position because we know how impactful an inclusive, forward-thinking WVDP can be,” said DNC Chair Jaime Harrison. “With this new hire and the adoption of their new affirmative action plan, I’m confident that the West Virginia Democratic Party is turning the page and moving forward towards a stronger, more inclusive chapter.”
