The second round of Affirmative Action Committee Meetings will nominate co-chairs for each caucus.
As a result of the current Covid-19 virus public health emergency, it is not possible for the WV Democratic Party Affirmative Action Committee to meet in person. Virtual zoom meetings listed below is an opportunity to take part in the process. The bylaws recently adopted by the West Virginia State Democratic Executive Committee call for full participation by all Democrats, with particular concern for minority groups, African Americans, Native Americans, Asian /Pacific Islanders, Latinos, women, Youth (under the age of 36), LGBTQ+, seniors, and disabled individuals in the Delegate Selection process and in all Party Affairs, as defined in the DNC charter and bylaws.
The Affirmative Action Committee (“AA Committee”) Committee shall consist of the two (2) Co Chairs of different genders elected by the members from each of the Democratic constituency organizations set forth in the Affirmative Action and Outreach Plan. The Co-Chairs of each diversity caucus will be chosen by the members of that diversity caucus. The two (2) Co-Chairs of different genders shall be elected by the members of the AA Committee at its first meeting following the organizational meeting, to terms of four (4) years, to expire at the election of their successors. There are to be no more than one (1) Co-Chair from the same constituency organization.
In addition, the Affirmative Action Committee shall recommend, and the Executive Committee shall appoint six (6) members divided among the Congressional Districts to the Executive Committee as voting members to help the party achieve affirmative action goals.
To participate you must be a registered Democrat, will support the Democratic nominee and will not participate in the nominating process of any other political party.
