(Charleston, WV) – First Senate District Democrats will submit three names to Governor Justice for consideration to fill the vacancy of Democratic Senator Ihlenfeld today.

The three candidates to be submitted to Governor Justice are Owens Brown, Delegate Shawn Fluharty, and Randy Swartzmiller.

“This committee worked tirelessly together throughout this process to ensure that the people of the 1st Senate District will have representation to serve them well in the State Senate,” said First Senate District Democratic Committee Chairman Walter “Fuzz” Larue.

Governor Justice has 5 days to make his selection.

Senator Wiilliam Ihlenfeld officially resigned from his seat in the West Virginia State Senate last night after the announcement of his confirmation by the U.S. Senate to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia.
