WVDP on the 56th Anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid
Chairwoman Belinda Biafore released the following statement:
“On July 30, 1965,  President Lyndon B. Johnson signed Medicare and Medicaid into law. For 56 years Medicare and Medicaid programs have provided life-saving health care for those who need it most. These programs have laid the foundation that Democrats have built upon for decades.
“Through fight after fight with Republicans trying to undermine Medicare and Medicaid, Democrats have continued to fight to protect those programs and ensure that every American has access to good quality health care.

“Health care is a right, not a privilege and what we’ve experienced for almost two years with COVID-19 it is now visible to everyone just how critical it is. We will continue to fight to keep Medicare and Medicaid in place, broaden health care access and programs, and expand access to health care for everyone.”
