Morrisey Doubles Down on Repeal of Pre-Existing Conditions

Morrisey opposes Manchin effort to protect West Virginians with diabetes, high blood pressure, and cancer

CHARLESTON, WV— Today, Attorney General Pat Morrisey doubled down on his commitment to letting big insurance companies deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions. As reported by WV MetroNews, Morrisey opposes U.S. Senator Joe Manchin’s effort to have the U.S. Senate Legal Counsel protect people with pre-existing conditions.

Pat Morrisey joined a federal lawsuit to allow insurance companies to deny coverage for people with pre-existing conditions. 800,000 West Virginians have common pre-existing conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, or heart disease. Morrisey wants to throw out protections for pre-existing conditions.

Manchin has called Morrisey’s lawsuit “unconscionable” and the outcome is matter of life and death for many West Virginians. The Manchin campaign launched a petition at www.StopMorrisey.com to let West Virginians make their voices heard.

“Voters have a clear choice between Senator Manchin who wants to protect West Virginia and Pat Morrisey who wants to let the insurance companies drop coverage for people with pre-existing conditions,” said Belinda Biafore, chair of the West Virginia Democratic Party.
