On Tax Day Voters Reminded, Jim Justice is a Tax Dodging Deadbeat

CHARLESTON, WV — As West Virginians file their taxes for the new July 15th deadline, the West Virginia Democratic Party sent out a text message and a robocall to voters across the state to remind them that billionaire Jim Justice has a record not paying his taxes.

While every day West Virginians have to pay their taxes, Jim Justice has a record of dodging taxes and not paying his bills.

“If the single mother of three who is on furlough from her job can find a way to dutifully pay her taxes, it’s a slap in the face that the state’s wealthiest resident Jim Justice can’t be bothered to pay his obligations,” said West Virginia Democratic State Party Chair Belinda Biafore. “In the age of Covid-19, West Virginians need to know that their leaders are managing state funds effectively to contain the threat of the virus. Voters need to know that Justice is a deadbeat who only looks out for himself,” Biafore concluded.

See below for the transcript of the West Virginia Democratic Party’s robocall:

This is a reminder that today is the last day to file your state and federal taxes.

Unfortunately, Governor Jim Justice is a deadbeat who doesn’t pay his bills.

While hardworking people have to pay their taxes, Justice gets away with avoiding his tax obligations.

This year we can vote to replace Jim Justice.

Paid for by the West Virginia Democratic Party.
