Senator Robert C. Byrd Would Have Celebrated His 100th Birthday Today

Chairwoman Belinda Biafore released the following statement:

Today Senator Robert C. Byrd would have been 100 years old. We can’t say enough to honor our friend and fellow Democrat. Senator Byrd represented everything that the Republican Congress in Washington now does not. He represented fairness, strength, and integrity. So much so that I’m sure all of you remember his legacy, “Byrd Rule.

Today we honor and remember all that Senator Byrd did for not only Democrats but all people in West Virginia and beyond. He would agree that now, more than ever, people should be put first, not politics and that the gridlock in Washington is a hindrance to the future of West Virginia and needs to come to an end. On hisĀ 100th birthday, we will continue to fight for integrity and putting West Virginians first.”
