Statement on Coronavirus Precautions and Democratic County Conventions

(Charleston, WV) — Today the West Virginia Democratic Party has released a statement regarding safety precautions and plans due to the Coronavirus outbreak:

“The health and safety of voters is our top priority and out of an abundance of caution, we are working with the DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee to determine the best course of action regarding our County Conventions coming up on March 28.

Again, the safety of our voters remains our top priority and as soon as we get final confirmation of plans to move forward from the DNC you will be notified. We want to be sure that everyone is safe, but everyone who wants to be involved in this process still has the opportunity to be included.

Aside from County Convention precautions and possible schedule changes, the West Virginia Democratic Party is taking other preventative measures to ensure the health and safety of Party staff and volunteers:

* West Virginia Democratic Party Headquarters is closed to the public.

* The 2020 Democratic Women’s Summit originally scheduled for April 18th is postponed.

* Check with your local County Committees and Chairs for cancellations and schedule changes of  fundraisers and events

Again, we will be updating you in the near future once we have more information.”
