WVDP Chairwoman Belinda Biafore released the following statement on Representatives Carol Miller and David McKinley participating in Governor Justice’s Broadband Announcement today:
“Congresswoman Carol Miller and Congressman David McKinley both voted no on the American Rescue Plan, but participated today alongside Governor Justice to celebrate its investment in West Virginia’s broadband.

“90% of Governor Justice’s $1 billion broadband announcement is federally funded and $236 million is directly from the American Rescue Plan that Congresswoman Carol Miller and Congressman David McKinley voted against.

“They had no problem showing up to celebrate the investment, but left out the details of how they voted no.

“Senator Manchin was the only representative from West Virginia who voted yes and secured funding for broadband in the American Rescue Plan. All of West Virginia’s Republican delegation voted no.

“Now, if Congresswoman Carol Miller and Congressman David McKinley would support the Bipartisan infrastructure framework it would mean another $600 million (approximately) for broadband alone.

“They’ll show up to cut the ribbon, but never voted to cut the check.”
